Guatemala has highly developed foods and chemical industries, due to large contributions and investment from the private and public sectors to develop world class laboratories for analysis, promoting their services throughout the region.

The accreditation system of the Guatemalan laboratories was organized with the support from the Swiss crediting agency, one of the two oldest and most highly recognized in Europe. The Guatemalan Accreditation Office provides its services since 2004, and it is an active member of the International Accreditation Cooperation - IAAC.

• Calibrating weighing equipment
• Analysis for environmental control in the industry
• Analysis of chemical and pharmaceutical products
• Medical analysis for humans and animals
• Analysis of textiles
• Analysis of construction products
• Calibration of tanks and supply lines for the use of gasoline and fuel.
• Quality check of fuels
• Inspection of imports and exportos.
